Attach document

Are you using the Document Attach functionality in Dynamics GP 2018? If you need the ability to attach documents to transactions in the system and want to avoid using the shared network location, this is a feature you don’t want to miss.

Originally introduced in GP 2013, this feature has evolved over the years and is a great way to minimize storage of multiple scanned documents located on the network. This feature also allows you to include the attached document(s) in the SQL database and will then automatically be included in the backup routine you already have in place (you do have one, right?)

To enable it, go to Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools > Setup > Company and chose ‘Document Attachment Setup’:

Check the ‘Allow Document Attachments’ box and you have enabled the document attachment functionality.

In GP 2018, you can attach documents to work (unposted) transactions as well as to posted (history) transactions. The latter is part of the enhancement made to the feature in the latest version of GP and further extends the functionality of an already great feature in the system.

Dynamics GP has a lot to offer to the SMB market and while it has been around for a while, is a flexible solution that can be deployed on premise or in the cloud.
